PROM! I must be getting OLD!

The Prom is finally over and I must say, what is up with these kids? After spending close to $500.00 on this glorious affair, we meet to take pictures with her date and friends and her date shows up in a tux jacket, pants, a long white t-shirt (untucked), the tie, loosely hung around his neck (if I had an opportunity it wouldn't have been loose) and sneakers. My poor mother almost collapsed. Her best friends boyfriend had a friend spray paint "I'm hot cuz I'm FLY" on the back of his white tux. Now, maybe some people think that is cool, funny, creative etc... but he wore this to an ALL WHITE High School and he is Brazilian... Brave? So, all the girls looked beautiful in their expensive get-ups and many of the guys looked like they stole their outfits from the Salvation Army because they were cold. I could have saved a lot of money and dressed her in a potato sack and be done with it. Here are the pictures:

At least his ride was cool!

well he lives up to the stereotype anyway.

Making a statement now can be something you regret later.

What's this...?! There is an all white high school...?! In New Hampshire....??? Can't be!

Your girl looked gorgeous regardless of how schlepy her date was.

My mother was still sewing my prom dress 30 minutes before I was to be picked up (I come from crafty people). In the end, it didn't stay on all that long anyway and certainly never again afterward.

Hey, I know where you took those pictures . . .

She looks lovely. I can't believe she's all grown up.

She does look gorgeous. That boy will look back at these pictures when he's an adult and shake his head in shame, hopefully.

The Prom is as expensive here, but the boys usually clean up well and look pretty sharp.

Rich, I couldn't agree more!
Fresh, hard to believe isn't it? In this day an age there are no Black kids in this High School. Not a single darker colored skin other than the ones you can get from a tanning booth. "It didn't stay on that long anyway"...Tee hee!
Sassy, it still is very lovely there every spring. She is growing up nicely, mostly!
Robyn, I doubt he will care. He is that kind of kid.

Thanks Savannah! Back in the day.. yikes.. all the guys wore tuxes because they thought it was cool. Not sure what the boys of today are going for!

The gurl looked great and the boy looked a complete twat, it would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

THAT was her prom date?
She looked completely gorgeous, Prudence. Wow!
But him? Let's all form a ring and point and laugh.
And the car's not cool. It just says "immature twat hung like a cashew". That's the sort of car that young guys think will impress girls but it only impresses other immature boys. Hey ho.

Yes Dive, she gets it from her Moma! LOL. The car was the upside of the date as far as I was concerned.

Glad to have you back if only for a short time!

Glad to be back, Prudence.
Looking through the photos again they would make an ideal excercise for Photoshop. You could spend a rainy afternoon giving your daughter a date worth remembering.

Her dress is absolutely beautiful. Him? Interesting and I'll leave it there.

Nice to meet you Dear Prudence.

Your daughter looks stunning, Prudence and a credit to you. I can see a lot of humour in her date and he is rather cute looking.
